Aalto University

Established in 2010, through the merger of three Finnish universities, Aalto University has ambitious goal to be one of the leading institutions in the world in terms of research and education in its own specialized disciplines. Department of Electronics Lighting Unit is one well-known unit of Aalto University. Aalto Lighting Unit provides provides higher basic and postgraduate education in Illuminating engineering. The research areas include: indoor lighting and energy-efficient lighting systems, outdoor lighting and visual & biological effects of lighting, lighting and energy in developing countries, lighting measurements and testing, LEDs and plant lighting, and electrical building services.

Kathmandu University

Kathmandu University was established by the act of parliament in November 1991. It is an autonomous, non-profit, non-government,public institution dedicated to maintain high standards of academic excellence. Its mission is to provide quality education for leadership. The department of electrical and Electronics Engineering was established in 1994. Research at the department is still in the initial stage of development and is focused on domestically applicable technologies of international importance.

Bahir Dar University
 
Bahir Dar University was established in 2000 by merging two former higher education institutions; namely the Bahir Dar Polytechnic and Bahir Dar Teachers’ College. It is now among the largest universities in Ethiopia, with more than 35,000 students in its 57 undergraduate and 39 graduate programs. Bahir Dar University has four colleges, three institutes, three faculties and one school. School of Computing and Electrical Engineering offers courses in renewable energy resources and technology, rural electrification and energy conversion in addition to other electrical engineering related courses.
