The main objective of this project is to develop design principles and execution practices fit to guarantee the faultless performance of metal-glass facades built in northern climatic conditions. The research results can be used by designers, manufacturers and building contractors. The research will concentrate on the structural performance and building physics aspects of metal-glass facede systems while bearing in mind principles related to the points of view of architectural concepts and lighting design. Another objective is to provide new and improved information to add to the proficiency of domestic system manufacturers and increase their competitive capacity especially on the international market. The results of the project will additionally be used in the initiation of university level further education programmes. The target audiences for such education will primarily consist of structural and architectural designers.
